Why 99% Of Network Marketers Fail

There's a few myths that have become urban legends in the network marketing industry. I want this article to touch on a couple of the most common myths that cause network marketers to fail with the goal of helping one or two people wake up and stop failing.
See, most people fail in network marketing because they don't realize they are doing anything wrong. In this industry, there is definitely a right way and a wrong way to do things. Unfortunately, this industry is full of the blind leading the blind. Everyone wants to be "the guru" but in reality they have no idea what they are doing, so they teach what they think they know (theory) as opposed to teaching true principles.
I'm not claiming to know everything, but hopefully this article will make a difference for a few marketers out there.
Myth 1: My Social Media Profile Is A Billboard
False! Social media wasn't meant to be used to let everyone know that you have cheap RayBan sunglasses, or to add all of your friends to a group to hopefully buy some leggings, or to tell everyone how rich you are because you got in at the beginning, or to tell people they are stupid if they don't join your opportunity.
If any of these sound like you, please stop!
Social media was meant to network and add value to people's lives. What value are you adding to someone's life by telling them they need to buy leggings from you? Think of it like a first date, if you show up and your date vomits all over you, I guarantee that date will end then and there. However, if you show up, have a real conversation, get to know each other, the question will come up of "what do you do?".
Once they ask the question, it is okay to pique their interest by telling them a 30 second overview of what you do. Let them guide the conversation by asking questions. These conversations should only happen in a private message, not in comments, and not on your (or their) wall.
Myth 2: My Upline Will Build It For Me
False! I'm sorry to burst your bubble if this is you, but this is by far one of the biggest and most toxic lies in the network marketing industry. When you join an opportunity, you start your own home based business. It is not your upline's business, not your friend's business, not your dog's business, it is your business and you need to treat it like one!
A very good friend of mine and fellow hustler has this issue with his upline. He promised him that he only needed to build one leg, and he would build the other leg for him. Fast forward a year later, and his upline hasn't put a single person under him. Lucky for his upline, my friend treats his business like his business and isn't dependent upon someone else to build it for him.
If this sounds like you, or it sounds like something you have said to recruit someone, please stop!
The network marketing industry by far has the greatest potential to change lives for the better, but only if the industry as a whole starts doing it the right way.
